Careers — Join Our Childcare Cleaning Team
Golden Star Childcare Cleaning is a specialist childcare cleaning company servicing 25 Melbourne suburbs. We're looking for dedicated cleaners who take NQS compliance and child safety seriously.
Why Work With Golden Star
We are not a general commercial cleaning company — we specialise exclusively in childcare and early childhood education facilities. That means our team understands NHMRC Staying Healthy protocols, NQS Quality Area 2 compliance, GECA-certified products, and TGA-listed disinfectants. If you want to build a professional career in specialist cleaning rather than general commercial work, this is the right team.
Current Roles
Childcare Cleaning Technician — Melbourne Metro
After-hours cleaning of licensed childcare centres across Melbourne. Full GECA product and compliance training provided. Current Victorian WWCC required or willingness to obtain.
Senior Cleaning Technician / Team Lead
Lead small cleaning teams at larger childcare centres. Responsible for compliance log completion, product management, and staff training. Minimum 2 years specialist childcare cleaning experience preferred.
Term Break Deep Clean Specialist
Seasonal deep clean team for school term break programmes — carpet extraction, pressure washing, high-surface cleaning, sandpit service. Flexible term break scheduling. Physical fitness required.
Emergency Response Technician
On-call biohazard and outbreak response for gastroenteritis and infection events across Melbourne facilities. NHMRC two-stage protocol training provided. Flexible availability required.
Requirements for All Roles
All positions at Golden Star require a current Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC) — or willingness to obtain one before commencing. This is a legal requirement under the Working with Children Act 2005 (Vic) for all staff who enter a childcare facility. We provide support and information for the WWCC application process for candidates who do not currently hold one.
Candidates must also be physically fit for cleaning work (mopping, lifting, equipment use), have reliable transport to Melbourne childcare facilities in our service suburbs, and be willing to work after-hours shifts (typically commencing between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm). No previous childcare cleaning experience is required — full training in GECA product use, TGA disinfectant protocols, NQS compliance documentation, and the NHMRC biohazard response procedure is provided to all new team members.

What Our Team Works With Every Day
Working at Golden Star means working with a specialist product range — GECA-certified enzyme sanitisers, TGA-listed disinfectants, fragrance-free VOC-free products for sleep rooms, AS/NZS 4146 food-safe sanitisers for kitchen areas. You will understand what GECA certification means, why TGA-listed disinfectants are required in nappy areas under Section 77, and how to document each visit with a signed compliance log. This is a higher standard than general commercial cleaning, and it shows in the work.
Our service area covers 25 Melbourne suburbs across the inner north, inner west, eastern suburbs, and south-east. We work with a range of facility types — long day care centres, occasional care settings, early intervention centres, and OSHC programmes. Term break deep clean programmes run during every Victorian school holiday period. If you are looking for consistent, year-round work in specialist cleaning with a team that prioritises doing things properly, we would like to hear from you.
How the Application Process Works
Email your expression of interest to [email protected] with your name, suburb, the role you are interested in, and a brief description of any relevant experience. We will respond within 2 business days. If there is a suitable opening, we will arrange a short phone discussion followed by a trial shift at a Melbourne childcare facility with a senior team member present. Successful candidates are onboarded with full compliance and product training before their first independent shift. Reference and WWCC checks are completed as part of the onboarding process.
