Childcare Cleaning Prices
If you run a childcare centre, kinder or OSHC program in Melbourne and need to budget for cleaning, this page sets out what a daycare cleaning service costs with us and how your own figure is worked out. Regular visits start from $150 each and term break deep cleans from $380, and every quote after that is fixed and written. How much does a daycare cleaning service cost in Melbourne?
With us, a daycare cleaning service costs from $150 per visit for regular after-close cleaning and from $380 for a term break deep clean. Outbreak cleans are priced on the phone for the rooms affected. Most centres land above the starting figure, and your written quote shows exactly where and why.
The figure for a small service with a short evening route. Larger centres, more bathrooms and extra nights add time and move it up.
Booked once the rooms are empty. The scope you choose, and how much carpet there is, sets the final number.
You tell us the illness and the rooms. We give the price on that call, so nobody arrives without an agreed figure.
The starting prices are real floors, not bait. A small family-run service with two rooms and one bathroom can sit close to them. A 120-place centre with six rooms, three nappy change areas, a cooking kitchen and a carpeted baby room will not, and we would rather you knew that from this page than from the quote.
Every price we give is for the work, the products and the paperwork together. The signed log after each visit, the chemical register with safety data sheets, the colour-coded cloths and the supervisor checks are part of the service, not extras added at the bottom of an invoice.
What moves the price of a childcare cleaning quote?
Time on site moves it most, and time comes from the building rather than the headcount. Bathrooms, nappy change benches, carpet, a cooking kitchen and the number of nights a week all change the hours we need. Some things people expect to matter, like your suburb, do not.
| Factor | Effect | What is behind it |
|---|---|---|
| Extra bathrooms and change benches | Raises it | Each one gets a full clean and disinfect with its own cloths, every visit |
| Carpet in baby and toddler rooms | Raises it | Slower to vacuum well than vinyl, and it needs extraction at term breaks |
| A kitchen that cooks on site | Raises it | Food-safe products and a separate kitchen routine, logged for your food safety records |
| Saturday or Sunday visits | Raises it | Weekend award rates for the cleaner, explained in the next section |
| Five nights instead of two or three | Lowers each visit | Less build-up between visits, so each one is shorter |
| Outdoor areas left off the scope | Lowers it | Many centres keep yard checks with educators and add us for sandpits only |
| Your suburb | No change | No travel surcharge anywhere in metropolitan Melbourne |
| Contract length | No change | No lock-in, so there is no discount for signing up for longer, and no penalty for leaving |
Licensed places matter less than people think. Two centres with 80 places can be an hour apart on cleaning time if one has a single large open-plan room and the other has five small rooms, each with its own sink, shelving and change area. So our quotes start with someone walking the rooms, never with a number typed into a form.
Why do weekend cleans cost more, and why is a very cheap quote a warning sign?
Because most of a cleaning price is wages, and the Cleaning Services Award sets higher minimum rates for evenings and weekends. A quote that works out below what the award requires for the hours involved means either the hours are being cut or someone is being underpaid.
- Weekday evening115%
A full-time cleaner's shift finishing after 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
- Saturday150%
Of the minimum hourly rate, for full-time staff.
- Sunday200%
Double the minimum hourly rate.
- Public holiday250%
For the rare centre that opens on one.
Since 1 July 2026 the lowest award rate, Level 1, has been $27.08 an hour before any loading, and casual and part-time staff attract higher percentages again. You can check every figure in the Cleaning Services Award on the Fair Work Ombudsman site. Since almost every centre closes at 6 pm or later, nearly all of our work is paid at the evening rate.
Do the sum on any quote you are comparing. Take the price, subtract a fair share for products and equipment, and divide what is left by the hours the cleaner would honestly need. If the answer is under the award rate, the job will be rushed or the wages will be short, and neither ends well in a room full of toddlers. Our guide to daycare cleaning contracts lists the other clauses worth checking before you sign.
How are term break deep cleans priced?
As a single job with its own fixed figure, starting from $380 and built from the scope you choose. You pick the rooms and the tasks, such as carpet extraction, wall washing, high dusting or a full toy wash, and the price covers exactly that list.
Deep cleans are quoted separately from regular visits so you can see what each costs. Plenty of centres book one at the end of the year and a lighter one in the July holidays, and some add one before a notified assessment and rating visit.
If your regular clean is already with us, the deep clean quote reuses what we know about the building, so it comes back faster and there is rarely a second walk-through. The full task list, room by room, sits on our term break deep cleaning page.
- Carpet extraction, and how many rooms have it
- Wall washing to child height or full height
- High dusting of vents, lights and ledges
- Every toy washed and dried, not only hard toys
- Moving and cleaning behind heavy furniture
- Outdoor equipment and the sandpit cover
The December to January shutdown is when most centres want a deep clean, so dates fill first. A quote in October or November gives you the pick of days.
What does a written quote from us look like?
One page, priced per visit, with a monthly total and GST on its own line. It lists the rooms, the nights, what is done at every visit and what rotates weekly, and it states the notice period. The example beside this uses our starting price so the maths is easy to follow.
A per-visit price makes a short month or a closed public holiday simple: you pay for the visits that happen. The monthly total is there because that is how most centres budget, and it is the figure your approved provider or committee will ask about.
If anything on the quote is unclear, ask before you sign. A line that says "general cleaning" with no rooms listed is the kind of thing that turns into an argument six months later, so ours names every room and every task.
- Regular after-close cleanMonday to Friday, 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 change bench$150 / visit
- Visits in a typical month5 nights a week, about 21 nights21
- Monthly subtotalVisits in the month times the visit price$3,150
- GST10 per cent, shown separately$315
- Monthly total$3,465
How do you get a written price for your centre?
Tell us about the building, book a free walk-through at a time that suits, and your written price arrives within a day of that visit. There is no charge for the quote, and no obligation to accept it.
If you are comparing providers, send us the task list from your current contract. We will quote against that exact list, item for item, so the two numbers can be compared fairly.
- 1Tell usRooms, places, nights a week.
- 2Walk-throughFree, usually under an hour.
- 3Written priceFixed, within 24 hours.
