What should childcare cleaning in Melbourne leave on file for an assessor?
A signed, itemised record of what was cleaned, how, with which product and when, room by room. That is what we leave after every visit. Directors file it with their hygiene records, and it answers the cleaning question an authorised officer is most likely to ask.
Most cleaning companies can tell you the centre was cleaned. Fewer can show you, three months later, that the nappy change bench in the toddler room was disinfected on a particular Tuesday and which product went on it. Our logs are built for that moment. They follow the rooms on your floor plan, so the order on the sheet matches the order your educators walk through each morning.
We hold our own copy for at least 12 months, so if a sheet goes missing before an assessment and rating visit, we can reissue it the same day.

Rooms where children eat, sleep, get changed or put things in their mouths carry the highest infection risk, so they get the most work and the closest record. Entry halls and offices need less. We set the method and frequency for each room before the first visit, and the log follows it.

Change benches, mats, toilets, potties, hand basins, taps and flush buttons are washed with detergent and warm water, rinsed and dried, then disinfected. Bins are emptied and relined, and soap and paper towel are refilled from your stock.

Toys and mouthed items
Educators drop mouthed toys into a set-aside tub during the day. We wash them in detergent and warm water, rinse, and leave them to air-dry on racks. Any toy played with that day is washed that night, as Staying Healthy asks, and toys packed away rotate through the week.

How does our cleaning support the National Quality Framework?
It gives you evidence for two parts of the National Quality Standard: Quality Area 2, children's health and safety, and Quality Area 3, the physical environment. It also backs your duty under Regulation 77 of the national regulations to keep hygiene practices adequate.
The framework never says how often to mop. It asks the approved provider to show that hygiene practices are adequate and that they actually happen, which is why a nightly log beats a clause in a contract. Our methods follow the NHMRC's Staying Healthy guidelines, now in their 6th edition (2024): routine cleaning with detergent and water removes most germs, and disinfectant is saved for surfaces that may carry infectious material.

What happens when your centre has a gastro outbreak?
You report it to the Department of Health, then tell us which rooms are affected. We plan an outbreak clean for that night or before the next session, using a disinfectant suited to the illness, and we log every surface so you can show exactly what was done.

Which cleaning products do we use around children?
Mostly neutral detergent and warm water. Routine cleaning removes most germs on its own, so disinfectant goes only on high-risk surfaces and during outbreaks. We choose fragrance-free products wherever one exists, and you get the name of every product we bring through the door.

How much does childcare cleaning cost in Melbourne?
Regular after-close cleaning starts from $150 per visit, and term break deep cleans start from $380. What you pay depends on floor area, licensed places, the number of nappy change and bathroom areas, and how many nights a week you need us.
